1967 Fender Jazz Bass (1968-1971)

Sunburst finish; pearl block inlays; La Bella stainless steel flat wound strings. 1960 Fender Jazz Bass (SN 26100; 1971)
Black; clay dot inlays on a rosewood neck. Sold refretted to John Paulus for 425 USD sometime in 1971. 1962 Fender Jazz Bass a.k.a. The Bass of Doom (S/N 64437, early 1970s-1986)
Sunburst finish; clay dot inlays Jaco has told multiple versions of the story. One is that he removed the frets himself with a butter knife and filled in the slots with Plastic Wood, followed by several coats of Petite's Poly-Poxy. Spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides; 34" neck with Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and maple veneer fretmarkers; Rotosound Swing Bass strings. Built by luthier Larry Breslin in 1974 for 500 USD; later owned by bass tech and luthier Kevin Kaufman. Early 1960s Fender Jazz Bass (S/N 82429, ?-1982-?)
Refinished by Ibanez Guitars Japan to natural finish, possibly during the 1982 tour of Japan. Appears in the 1982 Japan tour promotional material. 1963 Fender Jazz Bass (S/N L14769, 1985)
Used in the Modern American Bass instructional video, for which Jaco used a 1970s Precision Bass neck. The bass ended up at Albert Molinaro's Guitars 'R' Us in Los Angeles, CA, where it was sold to a collector with both necks. 1960 Fender Jazz Bass
Used during six months of intense practice in 1986. Bought and used by bassist Greg Rzab on Buddy Guy's 1994 song Lover with a Feeling. He later sold it to a famous bassist who wants to stay anonymous.
